Recipe for Taco Pie

Max Lechner

Ingredients

500g lean beef mince

1 sachet El Paso taco seasoning mix

30-40g grated cheddar cheese

3 ready rolled puff pastry sheets

Beaten egg or milk to glaze

Method

Brown mince in a large frying pan and add the taco seasoning.

Once cooked set aside to cool slightly and transfer into a mixing bowl.

Grease a flat baking tray ( you may need 2 trays depending on size) preheat oven to 200C

Mix the grated cheese into the mince mixture, adding extra cheese according to taste, if desired

Lay out each sheet of puff pastry on the baking tray(s) and divide out the mixture between each one and fold over the pastry to form a parcel ( similar to a pizza calzone ) and seal around the edges

Using a knife, make 3 slits in each parcel to let hot air escape.

Using a pastry brush coat in a milk or egg glaze.

Cooking time is approximately 20-25 mins, depending on oven (each parcel should serve at least 2 people)

Serve with shredded lettuce, salsa and sour cream.
